The making of a fused glass butterfly

Yvonne Yaar, a fused glass artist from New Jersey donated a beautiful neon butterfly for the project.

She sent along some work in progress photos that help illustrate the transformation from idea to completed work of art.

The design went through a few changes before being finalized.

Deciding on the wing design

Close to a completed butterfly...

After the wings were cut and the final design elements were added, a butterfly body was cut out and then the wings were fused.

Here is the completed butterfly...
